Pony Club
CRS is an officially recognised Pony Club centre for the North West of England. We organise activities for Pony Club members. Starting from age 4+ we help youngsters to begin their pony club adventure.
Membership
The Pony Club is the world’s largest equestrian youth organisation, with over 30,000 Members in the UK alone. Become a Member to improve your riding, take part in a huge range of sports and activities, and learn vital skills!
Our lowest ability Pony Club group is Walk Trot Learning to canter, however we recommend completing an assessment lesson with a Pony Club Instructor to help identify a suitable group for you. Mini theory sessions are available for clients who are not yet up to the riding ability of joining a pony club 2 hour session.
To join one of our pony club groups you must be a member of the pony club, to do this please apply for membership on the pony club website. You will need to complete an online form, or fill in and post a paper form
Once you’ve completed your membership we will find the appropriate group for you to join based on ability and age.
Badges
Pony club is a great way to develop your skills on and off the horse. Elevate your riding expertise and general understanding while forging new friendships in a fun and friendly environment.
During our two-hour sessions, you’ll spend one hour in the saddle refining your own skills and the horses’ way of going, whilst also spending one hour devoted to theory & working towards various achievement badges.
Badges are a fantastic way to build your knowledge of how to care for horses and gain hands-on experience about all things equine.
Badge syllabuses last between 4-8 weeks depending on the complexity. Once we’ve gone through the syllabus, there will be a short quiz based on everything learnt and members will receive their badge which can be showcased by stitching to pony club clothing
All badges and the syllabus can be found on the official pony club website.
Activities
Being a member of Pony Club also opens up additional opportunities for learning and competing against other members.
We hold CRS monthly pony club shows throughout the summer months & bank holidays in both dressage and showjumping disciplines with points distributed towards our Pony Club Championship leaderboard, with an awards evening held at the end of the competition season.
The championships help our riders put into practice what they’ve been learning in a fun and enjoyable way with their fellow pony club members & instructors.
Throughout all school holiday and half-term periods, we also arrange Pony Club exclusive pony days and other activity days, which are a favourite amongst members.
A range of non-riding competitions are also available such as the National Quiz, Winter Triathlon and Horse and Pony Care!
Competitions
We hold monthly pony club shows throughout the summer months and intermittently on bank holidays. You have the choice to enter the dressage and/or show jumping. All points are added to our leader board and a presentation evening will be held at the end of the competition season.

Pony Camp
Our pony camp is perfect if your child loves horses, and wants to develop their riding ability while having lots of fun and making new friends. They will benefit from our dedicated pony camp coaches, who love all the fun that camp has to offer just as much as the kids.
Each year we hold 2 exclusive camps for pony club members. This is a brilliant way of bringing our members together to put into practice what they’ve been learning throughout the year.
○ 2 day non-residential camp during April half term holidays.
○ 3 day residential camp during the summer holidays
During camp we ride once or twice a day including some jumping, flat work, hacking, a competition and much more (this year we even tried some polo crosse). We also cover lots of aspects of daily yard duties including mucking out, turning out, course building and of course we have plenty of fun along the way!
